Dayron Luis San Juan, born in Havana, Cuba, embarked on his musical journey in 2005, completing pre-university studies at Sergio Gonzales High School before obtaining a bachelor's degree from the Martha Machado Cuni School of Art Instructors in 2009. Specializing in percussion and human sciences, Dayron began his career by accompanying various groups such as "Raisel y sus chicos del sabor," "Base llena," and "Sol Caribe."
His talent and versatility led to collaborations with notable musicians including bassist Carl Mayotte, pianist Manoel Vieira, and Cuban composer Rafael Zaldivar. Dayron's contributions extend to major festivals like "Jazz En Rafale" and the Rimouski Jazz Festival, where he accompanied Manoel Vieira's ensemble.
Dayron's achievements include a JUNO nomination and recognition as a grant holder from the Canada Art Council and Conseil des Arts et Lettres du Québec. Notably, he recorded percussion for Mathieu Fiset's album "Des Marteaux & Des Cordes" and congas for Manoel Vieira's Latin Grammy-nominated album "Rhizome" in 2020.
Collaborating with Grammy-winning musician Larnell Lewis, Dayron continues to elevate his craft, solidifying his position as a distinguished figure in Quebec's music scene.
